Nancy Binay

Maria Lourdes Nancy Sombillo Binay-Angeles (born May 12, 1973 in Makati, Rizal) is a Filipina politician professionally known as Nancy Binay or Nancy Binay-Angeles. She is currently running for the 2013 Philippine Senate elections scheduled for May. She was selected as the 12th senatorial nominee for the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA). She is the most vilified senatorial candidate in the 2013 elections, due to her political dynastic connections, lack of experience in high-level administration/legislation, and supposed lack of intellect. No doubt that she is indeed the most vilified senatorial candidate, but I don't get why people put so much hate on her. Don't get me wrong, as I won't vote her for the upcoming election and she's not qualified for me. It's just that some hate of the people gets on my nerve. Every day, I read a lot of them especially in my daily Facebook feeds.

There are a lot of people in the senate who manage to win the vote without having any experiences. Take for example, the actors and actresses. Fernando Poe Jr. does not have any experience in the politics but became one of the Presidential Candidate last 2004 elections, mind you it was a close call between former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Even Cory Aquino who is self-proclaimed "plain housewife", became 11th President of the Philippines and is the first female President in our country.

I'm not really against with political dynasty, as long as they are doing good in their job. Maybe, given the fact about Nancy Binay's personal background, experience and education - she will only become his dad's puppet (Vice-President Jejomar Binay).

Well, I think we voters are matured enough for choosing who we want to. But why put so much hate on her? Especially Vice Ganda, who just publicly broadcast that she is an unqualified candidate. I don't see the point out of it, it only means disrespect or at least let the people decide for themselves. Even Risa Hontiveros has her own dirty tactics and full time opportunist, making black propaganda through out the social networking websites. IMO, she is the one behind face-offs especially in Facebook. Why? Because Nancy is always compared to her and she even went to Vice Ganda after the publicity stunt.

People need not to hate, trash talk or attack her personal interests. We can always leave her name unmark in the ballot. We are people of democracy, let the majority of the people decide.
