My 2012 In a Nut Shell

Well, this will be my last post of the year. I wasn't able to write anything from the last few months because I'm hell of a busy nowadays. I barely have 1 hour computer time everyday because of my work and mostly it only involves late catch up with my old and new friends.

Anyways, this post will be about my life in 2012 and my New Year resolution for 2013 (hopefully). I think I haven't done this kind of post last year (or perhaps I deleted it during my blog reboot?). It's never too late, better having one than never. I hope I can make this every year so I can summarize my blessings and accomplishments.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When you upload a file, you're given a download link so visitors can access your file. When a visitor clicks the link, they are first asked to complete a quick, short survey from host's advertising partners. When the visitor completes a survey, you're paid usually around $1.00 or even up to $10, and their download begins.

Sickness During Job Interview!

Are you fucking kidding me? I got nausea, fever, and rashes (lucky me, not my face or hands) all throughout the interview and exam! And because of this, I find it hard to concentrate answering the questions in the written exam and the interviewer. I feel nauseous and almost want to puke the entire time but I have to endure it for the sake of the job.

What We All Want

"May you never steal, lie or cheat to me.
But if you must steal, steal away my sorrows.
And if you must lie, lie with me all the nights of my life.
And if you must cheat, then please cheat death
because I couldn't live a day without you."

- Leap Year (2010)

Just got this quote from the movie I just watched. Although I'm not really in to it, this caught my attention.

Whiplash Stories 2

At some point, I keep seeing people getting out of their usual system. I guess people really are working on it despite for the fact that no matter how you escape reality, it will only hunt you. But who are them to be blame? However, these false pretenses are not enough nor ever will cover up themselves.

As I browse everyday over the internet, I realize how to keep my netizen ethics. Everything you post and everything you say reflects on you. What is meant to be public can be publicize and what is meant to be private should keep an eye for privacy.

The Hunger Games Trilogy

So today, I just finished reading all 3 books of  "The Hunger Games Trilogy" after five days. Yep, I can read fast and still understand every bits of it as long as my interest matters.

I really got interested after I watched the first film, The Hunger Games after it was released online (I'm a hell of a pirate, really). The movie itself was really great despite of having some major and minor tweaks which is very understandable considering that some parts of the book is not entirely important. The idea of getting some parts from the sequel book is very ingenious otherwise it might have been many dull moments and confusing scenes.

After I watched the movie, the urge of wanting more haunts me. Then I decide to put my interest in the book because I have to wait till next year for the next installment, November 2013 (see detailed release dates here). Hopefully, it will be released the same date as US which is November 22 - in our timezone it will be November 23 (GMT+8, Manila). I even read the first book considering that I've watched the movie which is rarely I do (for the fact that it is already spoiled by the movie). I consider that a high level of interest!

Why do I consider it as high level interest? Take note of the Harry Potter series, I only watched the film. I managed to read the Deathly Hallows but got lazy and lost interest, leaving the halfway of pages unread.

I can't buy the books because of the bad weather (it's been raining nonstop here for weeks, day and night) so I made it work reading e-books. It's not easy BTW, it  irritates my eyes if I spent to long but I can't believe that I didn't notice the time as I read.

The Hunger Games is the 2nd book that I've read after watching the movie being The Notebook as the first one which is a very different case - reading it because of a responsibility not knowing if I'm really accountable for. Same reason goes with The Time Traveler's Wife but did not finish it though I'm also halfway through with it. OR it might have been third, I just can't remember if I managed to finish Sundays at Tiffany's, a novel turned in to movie also, though I remember that i read that.

At some point, I thought of it's good to read the book first before watching it. The reason is obvious, why bother spending many days reading a novel after watching it within 2 hours or so? But being like me, not much of a bookworm, has to thank the movie for giving the knowledge that it came from a novel.

Well, happy Hunger Games everyone! May the odds be ever in your favor, always!

Oscar Pistorius: Disability Is Not an Excuse to Give Up

Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius (born 22 November 1986) is a South African sprint runner. Known as the "Blade Runner" and "the fastest man on no legs", Pistorius, who has a double amputation, is the world record holder for class T44 in the 100, 200 and 400 metres events and runs with the aid of Cheetah Flex-Foot carbon fibre transtibial artificial limbs by Ă–ssur. He competes in T44 (single below knee amputees) events though he is actually classified in T43 (double below knee amputee).

On 4 August 2012 he became the first double leg amputee ever to participate in the Olympic Games when he entered the men's 400 metres race. Though he was not able to make it to the finals, he already did well for making it to the semi-finals.

(source: Wikipedia)

This photo was taken long time ago, but has gone viral last Sunday on some social networking sites such as Twitter and to the web after Pistorius raced. He inspired many people who are also like him just like the young girl in the photo named Ellie Challs.

Pistorius only proved that disability doesn't mean inability. He is an icon whose inspiring many people like him, physically challenged but did not see it as an obstacle nor a reason to give up. Not only he inspired physically challenged people, but also the able-bodied person just like me.

"I felt sorry for myself because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet."

London Olympics 2012: Water Polo Wardrobe Malfunction

I read the news in Yahoo so I immediately searched for some uncensored photo (LOL). This event was held last Wednesday (August 1), a match between Spain and United States. Kim Craig accidentally pulled out the swimsuit and exposed the right breast of the Spanish athlete.

It was aired online by NBC and many viewers might have actually seen it. Such a very rare scene that can be seen particularly on a prestigious event.

Accidents happens and these kind of so-called "wardrobe malfunction" is very common particularly in this kind of game. After all, in water polo, kicking, grabbing, pulling, punching, struggling -- it's all legal underwater. What you see above is different on what is happening underneath.

Anyways, the match lead to a tie between Spanish and United States for a total score of 9-9.

Job Interviews

The picture in the left made me laugh a little. This is a true story especially for the first timers - fresh graduates who are applying for their first job.

The major problem that most likely ruin an interview is because of nervousness. Nervousness leads  to heart beat getting faster, cold palms, shaking hands, tremble when talking, and lost of concentration.

Okay, so enough with that. I got a story about my job interviews during the other day. I'm not gonna pinpoint or reveal names of the company or the personnel that held the interview. Just my experience ;)

A day before, I received a text message regarding an initial interview that will be held the next day. It was so early, 9:00am appointment. The location of the establishment is very far from my home, let's say at least 2 hours of travel or if unlucky, may get up to 3-4 hours because of traffic. Realizing this, I decided to go since I also have another job interview where I can go any day of the week with different time slot, 2:00pm.

I have to wake-up 4:30am, giving a 30-minute grace period until 5:00am just in case of laziness in getting up (LOL). So it does really was, I woke 4:30am but managed to get up 15 minutes later (almost wide awake). My target time to leave the house is 6:00am, so I have at least an hour to prepare myself - eat, take a bath, fix my self and my stuffs. I managed to leave the house following my time scale BUT I left my bottle of water and umbrella (tsk, tsk). Now, I have 3-hours to be used in traveling.

I managed to arrive at my first destination and interview on the right time, 9:00am. Unfortunately, me and my fellow interviewees waited an hour before the initial interview starts. I thought everything will go well since the interviewer look nice and kind but I was wrong. On my turn, I was aggressively attacked (asked) - she started asking what position I'm applying for and since I don't know which job position is available in their establishment, I asked what are their vacant positions - she returned to me by answering, "I don't know to you, I'm not the one applying. If I offered you as electrician, will you accept?". So inside me, I was a little bit of "Huh? How can I know?". I really don't know their openings, the information sent via SMS did not indicate the position. AND BESIDES, I did not applied for them - they only got my resume in the other establishment where I really was applying at. Considering that I'm a fresh grad, I just continued to go on because I was desperate to get a job (almost 3 months jobless, the competition is to great huhuhu). The entire interview is all like that, very rude approach and grouchy if I did not answer her questions very well. How can I answer well if she's attacking me rudely and grouchy? I was discouraged to continue because I'm  considering the atmosphere and people in the place of work. I just apologize and agree on what she says, just sign of respect. I don't want to act inappropriately.

After the interview, I decided to go to my aunt's but before that I ate. I lost PhP100.00 during the process, because I really have a bad habit of putting money in my pocket when I'm kind of on the rush. That money is already a huge amount for me (Tsk, tsk). After eating, I went to my aunt's house which is few blocks away from the food outlet.

I left at my aunt's at exactly 1:00pm and went to an agency to submit my time card (for my OJT that held a week before, it is a paid training). I decided to go there first so I don't have to comeback again. At exactly 2:00pm, I arrived to my next destination and interview.

Sadly, like the first one, I waited almost 3 hours before my turn (I was interviewed by almost 5:00pm). There are also plenty of people who are on the queue so it's okay. The interviewer gave us something to eat and bottle of water while waiting WHICH is very nice of her. In the waiting process, I met a cute girl and had a long talk, like we have know each other for so long. Sadly, girls are not my priority as of now - I'm thinking of getting one once I get a job.

I been talking to many girls lately but sadly, I really don't have the time yet or should I say - I have nothing to invest, time and money. Besides I need to focus first on my career and I need to concentrate (LOL).

Continuing, I managed to at least passed the interview and made me took the test (based on my observation, those who managed to passed the initial interview are those people who were allowed to take the exam and those who did not passed left the office right after the initial interview). The company is stable and I really prefer the working environment - location, office itself, and as well as the people who are very nice and courteous. The interview went well and the interviewer is very kind and understanding. After the examination, I was told that I have until  Wednesday to wait for their call. If they did not call, it certainly means that they had considered other people. (I'm hoping to pass *cross-fingers*)

Summarizing all the interviews that I've went on the same day, both of them are entirely opposite from one another. Wish me luck! :)

Goodbye 100+ Movies :(

Err, I am terribly feeling down now for having all of my movies lost because I have to reformat my netbook. It's pretty saddening because it took me 2-4 hours to download a single movie (in our country, the internet bandwidth distribution is not as advance as the other countries). I started gathering them for like 1 or 2 years ago. And guess what movie I saved during the reformat? TWILIGHT!!!!

Unfortunately, what left for me is Twilight - don't get me wrong, I'm not a twilight fanatic. This is for a special cause. My little sister requested to save it so we can watch it in our flats screen as I wait to finish my netbook to reformat. For some reason, she likes Twilight Saga.

Laptop Keyboard Has Gone Crazy - Scrambled Keys !!

Moving on, the reason why I reformatted my netbook is because the keyboard has gone crazy! It likes scrambled or something. The characters that appears when I type is different, let's say for example: when I press "Caps Lock", it enters the present time and date; when I press the "Fn" (function key), it enters "w"; when I press "x", it enters "xr\". It's pretty messed up actually. I wasn't able to use my netbook for an entire day. I tried to clean the keyboard and even tried the "Fn+Num Lock/Scroll Lock" Solution but failed.

Reformatting IS what I thought to be the solution but it seems that it wasn't. It's still scrambled after reformat. I didn't know what exactly happened on how I fixed it, I just messed up with the "Ease of Access" (Control Panel > Ease of Access) regarding "Keyboard". I clicked something in "Filter Keys" and after that, BOOM! I think it was accidentally or for some reasons activated after a Windows Update.

The sacrifice was wasted (the 100+ movies T_T) but my priority is to fix my netbook by all means! Guess I have to download them again but not all of them, just favorites. To be honest, most of them are just saved because I was too hesitant to delete them thinking that someone might like it or so I can share it.

Kim Dotcom: Megaupload will Return

This tweet came from Kim Dotcom - the founder and owner of the recent raided file hosting site, Megaupload. SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement), PIPA (Protect IP Act) are just one of the bills that were created in order to stop piracy and copyright infringement in the internet. They were made to act as police patrol focusing in guarding intellectual property and copyrighted materials (such as movies, games, ebooks, music, etc.).

I'm not happy with my life.

Found this on 9gag. It's really funny because most of the people in the said social network use it as a  their "Psychiatric Treatment". They use it to express themselves - overly express should I say where it comes to the point that it is getting really personal. For some reason, getting likes from those kind of status makes you feel better -- which is weird.

Whiplash Stories

Okay, so there are some (actually, there were only two) narrow-minded people who doesn't see the point of turning backs. My mentality is clear and I know what I'm doing. I have come to the point that I need to follow what I really want and certainly aware that I'm living on a free country.

Just to be clear with these retards, I'm choosing perseverance than opportunity. Why? So I can get what I want.

I'm not your typical HRM graduate who is desperately in need to go out of country just to work. I did not take this course just to work abroad to get high salary. It seems that people are forgetting the passion for work, now they are working for money. I'm really against with that kind of thinking. It seems that they already lost faith in their country. The chance of seeing a working man passionately is like finding a four-leaf clover.

I was give a lot of opportunities but none of them are in my liking. Yep, I have a backer in one of the famous restaurant in Greenbelt, my father can back me up to apply in a cruise ship as front desk, and recently that I've lost interest on is the ESL teaching program - I don't know why did I applied their in the first place.

Actually it's only a trial, I only tried but I'm not really in to it. I start having interest when I found out that my two best buddies are  also going for it but then they decided to quit, I quit also. I still have a friend out there but I don't like to hang with her anymore. I think she turned blind for the fact that I'm really still in to her, that I'm still clingy and emotionally attached to her. Which is not true, but my actions speaks otherwise but don't get it wrong, I only act because I enjoy seeing her too confident for herself. It seems that she really thinks that she's so beautiful and irresistible. Oh, BTW, congratulations for catching my attention, sorry but I'm no longer buying it! Hahaha

I really love people who underestimate my capabilities then watching them screwed up. Not doing it doesn't mean that I can't, I can but I don't want. It's just what I want you too see. After all, we're just people with the same level of luck.

It and In

I'm quite entertain on what's happening around me. As far as I can observe again, it appears that it's on the move again - I'm calling this "it" because I only use "he" & "she" to humans and when I mean humans, that person should be human physically and mentally. Physically yes, but mentally - FUCK NO! HAHAHA!

I'm really entertained because it is getting really messed up, considering the external factors affecting it. As far as I can tell, true friends will not tolerate the wrong deeds, the parents shouldn't be lied to, and all shit that you've done will eventually comeback at you. All I can say, IT IS REALLY FREAKING MESSED UP! The most messed up thing that I've witnessed is that IT DARES TO COMPLAIN FOR HAVING A MESSED UP LIFE.

IMO, when it is we ourselves are the ones who are making it,we decide for it. We sometimes regret it but did it come to realize that was what it wanted? "Used to want" to be exact. This makes us responsible for such acts. I think one day it will realize that it was it all along but that will be too late.

Excuse for the extensive word of "it". If you read it carefully, you'll definitely understand my point.

---------

Next is I quit the training and continue the job offer. Two of my friends who made it worth going back-out because they think we are just going to waste our time there. Its not that we don't have faith with our capabilities, we only lose interest. Besides, I was already having doubts when I went their. I decided to go because I knew that those two friends of mine are going to join but other than that, nothing.

Luckily, one of my co-practicum trainee invited me to her work but I began to lose interest when I was informed that it was a call center company. I might have agree if that is hospitality or tourism based job, but it turns out that it isn't. I'm still thinking about it.

There are a lot of opportunities out their but sometimes due to rush, we forget to know what we really want. Me? I have plenty of options, its just that I don't know which one is what I really wanted.

This coming Thursday, I will be trying my luck. I'm going to submit my curriculum vitae to various hotel companies in the vicinity of Manila. Wish me luck!

Career Foundation

Well, just another regular update to my life's happenings although I knew that it's not your business and you don't care, I'm just sharing.

Recently my friend invited me to a work where we will be going to teach English as Second Language (ESL) to Koreans. At first, I was so hesitant because it has a no major connection towards my degree. In short, it's very far from my field of expertise (I haven't thought of that yet actually). I was expecting me to become a food attendant, waiter ,chef, front desk clerk, back-office staff of a hotel, housekeeper, restaurant manager, hotel manager, or anything related to hospitality and tourism industry - but teacher? Yes, but in terms of being a professor or instructor in a Bachelors Degree that involves tourism and hospitality courses when I am about to retire. I was also hesitant because I'm worried what will they think - my colleagues, friends, family, and relatives in choosing a career that is very far to my field of study. But thinking about life, was it necessary to what may others think?

So I contemplated and now I decided that I'm going to pursue this. Why? Because it will contribute a lot to my well-being and strengthen my career foundation.

As I mentioned before, I know and full aware that my English is not 100% perfect - both written and oral. Since my career path involves tourism and hospitality industry, I am oblige to use it and be good at it. Before the job, you need to pass the training that it involves accent reduction, accent application (American Accent) and enhancing grammar skills. I find this training a very good opportunity to enhance my vocabulary, grammar skills and even an accent! In exchange, you are require to teach and sign a contract with them if you pass. Sadly, we don't get any training allowance ~

When I'm nervous, I begin to stagger. I talked fast as if that I want to finish it quickly to remove the uneasiness. Considering that I'm entering to an atmosphere that I'm not used to, this will be a great start to test and improve my self-confidence since the teaching will involve lots of talking. I will also be working on new set of people I'm not familiar with that has different personalities and probably experienced people. The students will be a different nationality - Koreans particularly.

To sum up all what I've said, these will be one of my career foundation - enhancing my language skills and improving my self-confidence. I'm not rushing to work abroad or competing, I just want to be prepared - intellectually, physically, and emotionally before entering the field that I've chosen. This will be the start of my career.

------------------------------------

I will be busy during the weekdays because of my training and its about 20 days. I also need to sleep early and wake-up early  because my commute takes one hour and a half (sucks, starts at 8:30am but wee need to be there on or before 8:15am). It will be definitely a hard time but as much as possible, I will still try to keep this blog updated and more tutorials will be added!

Disable Right-Click Function To Your Website

Today I will be teaching you how to protect the content of your website or blog - the images, texts, information and even the source code. These are some useful scripts that can be used to disable Right-Clicking / Right-Click function in your website.

Protecting your content is one way to be unique over the internet. It is also very beneficial if you are monetizing your blog especially when you are using Full-Page Script .

The techniques that I'm going to show does not guarantee 100% protection but at least, it will lessen or minimize the leechers. There are specialized scripts and codes that can be used but it's much more advance. The thing is, those who really want to steal any of your valuable content or information will always find a way to bypass it.

First, just copy the script code then paste them to any of the following:

Blog Additions

Added some thumbnails. I need to put some thumbnails so that it will look nice and neat in post previews. The default thumbnail aspect ratio is 5:3, that is why as much as possible, I need to put these thumbnails on top if the images in the content are not perfect fit - otherwise it will turn ugly.

Since I am not skilled in using Photoshop, I tried an web photo editor (PiZap) to make my post entry thumbnail as seen above. I am too lazy to ask for help, maybe due to the fact that no one is willing to accept or volunteer to my request.

I am not 100% satisfied with the background though, it's kinda lame, but I really like abstract images.

Added some pages. This is the fun part that I've been doing. I added 2 new pages in my blog and revised the "About Me" page.  I renamed the "About Me" page in to "Snow Cone", the name code that I will be using in this website. I also revised the content and still thinking other weird stuffs that I could write.
  • The Blog page - This is the major introduction and overview of my blog.
  • E-Mail page - I added this so you can send me an e-mail. I thought that it would be nice to know and befriend some of my site visitors.
I am still thinking of other pages that I might add so stay tuned.! :)

114th Independence Day

The Philippine Declaration of Independence was proclaimed on June 12, 1898 in Cavite II el Viejo (now Kawit), Cavite, Philippines. With the public reading of the Act of the Declaration of independence, Filipino revolutionary forces under General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from the colonial rule of Spain, which had been recently defeated at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War. Shouldn't Be Here

I was so hesitant to go but still continued. Something pushed me to continue - an unknown force.
I continued considering what might happen but it turned out to be much worse.

Was I really invited? It seems to me, because someone suggested ~ therefore i considered it as an invitation.
But actions speak otherwise. I saw people looking with each other eyes showing disappointment.
Was I really supposed to be there?

Crumpy Chocolate Spread

Here is my favorite chocolate spread, Crumpy Chocolate Spread :) The picture shown above is Crumpy Chocolate Hazelnut Spread which is different from what I've been really eating. The original flavour has red linings instead of green in the packaging. I can't find any photo's nor the website of it sadly :/

US Based File Hosts ~ Affiliate Program Removal

Fuck it, i just finished uploading my files to FilePost and when i woke up, affiliate program is gone! I should have known that this is gonna happen. Now i'm getting really mad >:(

In my last post, i didn't explain what really is "Affiliate Program". Affiliate program is considered applying as an "affiliate" and gives you incentives for working with them. In the case of file hosting sites, being part of the affiliate program gives you the opportunity to earn. How? They pay you as people download (PPD - pay per download) your files and gives you 25-70% commission if somebody purchases premium account thru your affiliate link or download link. Some company gives $35/1000 downlods you have and $2-$5 commissions for 1 month premium purchases (that's for one month, the longer the premium account, the higher the commission). They also have the referral program wherein when somebody registered under your referral link, you will have a certain commission on that person's earning.

File Hosting Sites ~ Afraid to FBI

After shutting down of MegaUpload - one of the best file hosting sites, many file hosting sites has removed their affiliate programs. These affiliate programs makes you earn money every time people download your files. Uggghh.

I'm terrible pissed right now after FileSonic removed their affiliate program. I've been earning money from FileSonic for almost 3 months and managed to get $32 (US) for my hard work. They have the best paying rate. But now, they removed the affiliate program without notice. I checked my inbox messages one by one but still, i didn't find anything regarding that matter. Wupload and FileServe were the first one (in my experience) removed their affiliate program, but Wupload gave notice. I don't know about FileServe, since i'm not using it when the time i use FileSonic (because FileServe has low pay rate) but i've read on a forum that they also removed it without notice.
