Job Interviews

The picture in the left made me laugh a little. This is a true story especially for the first timers - fresh graduates who are applying for their first job.

The major problem that most likely ruin an interview is because of nervousness. Nervousness leads  to heart beat getting faster, cold palms, shaking hands, tremble when talking, and lost of concentration.

Okay, so enough with that. I got a story about my job interviews during the other day. I'm not gonna pinpoint or reveal names of the company or the personnel that held the interview. Just my experience ;)

A day before, I received a text message regarding an initial interview that will be held the next day. It was so early, 9:00am appointment. The location of the establishment is very far from my home, let's say at least 2 hours of travel or if unlucky, may get up to 3-4 hours because of traffic. Realizing this, I decided to go since I also have another job interview where I can go any day of the week with different time slot, 2:00pm.

I have to wake-up 4:30am, giving a 30-minute grace period until 5:00am just in case of laziness in getting up (LOL). So it does really was, I woke 4:30am but managed to get up 15 minutes later (almost wide awake). My target time to leave the house is 6:00am, so I have at least an hour to prepare myself - eat, take a bath, fix my self and my stuffs. I managed to leave the house following my time scale BUT I left my bottle of water and umbrella (tsk, tsk). Now, I have 3-hours to be used in traveling.

I managed to arrive at my first destination and interview on the right time, 9:00am. Unfortunately, me and my fellow interviewees waited an hour before the initial interview starts. I thought everything will go well since the interviewer look nice and kind but I was wrong. On my turn, I was aggressively attacked (asked) - she started asking what position I'm applying for and since I don't know which job position is available in their establishment, I asked what are their vacant positions - she returned to me by answering, "I don't know to you, I'm not the one applying. If I offered you as electrician, will you accept?". So inside me, I was a little bit of "Huh? How can I know?". I really don't know their openings, the information sent via SMS did not indicate the position. AND BESIDES, I did not applied for them - they only got my resume in the other establishment where I really was applying at. Considering that I'm a fresh grad, I just continued to go on because I was desperate to get a job (almost 3 months jobless, the competition is to great huhuhu). The entire interview is all like that, very rude approach and grouchy if I did not answer her questions very well. How can I answer well if she's attacking me rudely and grouchy? I was discouraged to continue because I'm  considering the atmosphere and people in the place of work. I just apologize and agree on what she says, just sign of respect. I don't want to act inappropriately.

After the interview, I decided to go to my aunt's but before that I ate. I lost PhP100.00 during the process, because I really have a bad habit of putting money in my pocket when I'm kind of on the rush. That money is already a huge amount for me (Tsk, tsk). After eating, I went to my aunt's house which is few blocks away from the food outlet.

I left at my aunt's at exactly 1:00pm and went to an agency to submit my time card (for my OJT that held a week before, it is a paid training). I decided to go there first so I don't have to comeback again. At exactly 2:00pm, I arrived to my next destination and interview.

Sadly, like the first one, I waited almost 3 hours before my turn (I was interviewed by almost 5:00pm). There are also plenty of people who are on the queue so it's okay. The interviewer gave us something to eat and bottle of water while waiting WHICH is very nice of her. In the waiting process, I met a cute girl and had a long talk, like we have know each other for so long. Sadly, girls are not my priority as of now - I'm thinking of getting one once I get a job.

I been talking to many girls lately but sadly, I really don't have the time yet or should I say - I have nothing to invest, time and money. Besides I need to focus first on my career and I need to concentrate (LOL).

Continuing, I managed to at least passed the interview and made me took the test (based on my observation, those who managed to passed the initial interview are those people who were allowed to take the exam and those who did not passed left the office right after the initial interview). The company is stable and I really prefer the working environment - location, office itself, and as well as the people who are very nice and courteous. The interview went well and the interviewer is very kind and understanding. After the examination, I was told that I have until  Wednesday to wait for their call. If they did not call, it certainly means that they had considered other people. (I'm hoping to pass *cross-fingers*)

Summarizing all the interviews that I've went on the same day, both of them are entirely opposite from one another. Wish me luck! :)
